Feel the Excitement - Watch the Skill
as combinations of Horse and Rider test themselves against the course, the time and other competitors.
Four Showjumping arenas cater for all degrees of ability and experience, from the under 12 year old pony class through to the professional Grand Prix Showjumper, who would be able to compete favourably against the world’s best. The skills required to successfully complete these courses are immense, as the competitors follow the course, set by the Course Designer who will always have some design methods to test both Horse and Rider. No matter what level they are competing at, the respective Horse of the Year title is their ultimate aim.
The aim of all these competitors is to complete the set course, in the allocated time, with least number of rails down. Points are accumulated for rails knocked or other discrepancies, thus the combination with the least number of points wins.
Highlights you should aim to watch are:
· Lady Rider of the Year Thursday - 2pm
· Silver Fern Stakes Friday - 4pm
· Pony of the Year Saturday - 2.15pm
· Olympic Cup Sunday - 2pm
Friday Night Equestrian Extravaganza - starting 5.30pm
