Bill Noble and Airthrey Highlander may not be defending their Dressage Horse of the Year crown, but the five-time winner reckons he’ll be more nervous than ever.
That’s because his 20-year-old daughter Anya will be competing aboard the stallion owned by Linda Moughan.
“I will be a nervous wreck,” says Bill. “It will be a far more stressful HOY watching someone competing who I am responsible for.”
But chances are, he needn’t worry.
The new combination, who got together late last year, seem to have clicked perfectly.
They’ve been getting some good marks in the high 60s and Anya has her sights set on cracking the 70% barrier.
“He really is just an amazing horse,” she says.
The combination won two Grand Prix championships in January and the 2015 Young Rider Championship too.
She feels no pressure following in the footsteps of her father.
“I am a different rider and this is a different ball game. Dad is the big expert and you can’t really take into consideration that Bowie (Airthrey Highlander) is the defending HOY champ. I am not competing against the past.”
