Dee to Represent NRM HOY and NZ in China
Back to Article SearchLuke Dee will be winging his way to China shortly to compete in the CSIW2*.
The 20-year-old showjumper has bagged the all-expenses paid trip to Beijing thanks to his efforts in the JB Olympic Cup at the 2014 NRM Horse of the Year Show.
The honour was to go to winner Katie McVean who is expecting her first child in July. However, she declined the invitation due to her pregnancy.
Dee, a full time rider for New Zealand Performance Horses, finished second equal in the Olympic Cup. He will be hosted by the Beijing International Equestrian Club and will compete in the top classes at two shows aboard a borrowed mount between April 24 and May 3.
The invitation is thanks to HOY show director Kevin Hansen forging a new relationship with the growing equestrian nation, and hosting two delegations of riders and officials at the 2014 event. But Hansen is quick to thank Singapore jumping judge Mr Ho Nai Yue, who has officiated at several HOY and helped bring everything to fruition.
It’s already been a good year for Dee who won the Norwood Gold Cup at HOY, and will return to the United States this winter where he will work with renowned trainer George Morris and base with Missy Clark.
